norco gas station owner defends store shoots robber in arm with shotgun

He shot my arm off!
Status: Verified

An armed robber entered a convenience store in Norco, CA armed with an assault-styled / military-styled rifle and told the owner, an elderly man, to freeze. The owned stepped behind a glass case and quickly pulled up his shotgun and fired it at the robber. The robber then ran out of the store screaming “He shot my arm off” as his accomplices, also armed with similar rifles, ran and tried to jump into their getaway car.

According to ABC 7 the guns and the BMW SUV the young men were driving were all stolen. It appears they likely had stolen the car and the guns in order to pull off the robbery (and possibly more?) but it all came crashing done when the armed store owner kept his wits about him and defended his business. [note: conjecture]

Watch Video of the Attempted Robbery Here:

Last night some thugs showed up to a local liquor store (Norco, California) with AR’s and the store owner pulled out a shotgun! This is crazy!!! from JusticeServed

The owner, Craig, called 911 after the shooting and was taken to the hospital for a possible heartattack, he is 80 years old.

The assailants did the right thing after the shooting and took their wounded accomplice to the hospital where he was treated for wounds consistent with a shotgun blast. Police arrested all 4 of the young men, ages 22 to 27. The black BMW SUV they used in the attempted robbery was reported stolen and police found stolen guns inside of the vehicle.

“In this case, a lawfully armed member of our community prevented a violent crime and ensured their own safety while being confronted with multiple armed suspects.” – Riverside County Sheriff’s Department

The dramatic defense by the elderly owner happend at the Norco Market & Liquor in Norco, CA. His staff says he was prepared partly because of an earlier warning by the local Sheriff’s department that robberies had been occuring in the area, and partly because he is always prepared and vigilant.

Comments on Reddit where the video was shared were largely positive and supportive of the store owner, which is rare for the platform.
