That is a lot of meth!
In April of this year U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers made a massive drug bust on the World Trade bridge in Laredo, TX. The agents spotted a semi-truck hauling strawberry purée crossing the bridge. When they investigated the vehicle they found 158 packages hidden within the strawberry purée packaging containing 1,761 pounds of methamphetamines. At the time the drugs had a street value in the USA of $35.2 million

The drug seizure is still being investigated by Homeland Security Investigations of San Antonio.
Some Twitter users made jokes, but others pointed out the concern that packaging powerful illegal drugs along with food intended for consumers could cause issues the drug cartels did not intend. Most likely the drugs are carefully packaged to not contaminate the food in order to ensure the drugs make it safely to their intended targets, but it could happen on occasion. Always wash your fresh fruits and veggies before storage, you just never know.
Good job, but this should be very worrisome for consumers. Using food shipping to hide drugs in means we are at risk of exposure if the drugs contaminate the food. I imagine a lot of produce or other food shipments coming into the country have had drug cargo in them.
